Report from the GOLDEN STATE COIN SHOW
Held on August 24 & 25, 2003 in Arcadia, CA

Left to right: Mary Beedon, Virginia Bourke, and Gary Beedon staffed the greeting and registration table. Happy, happy...
Here's Roy Iwata who chaired the Gold Benefit Drawing this year, getting tickets printed up, distributing them for sale, and having the chore of having to buy GOLD COINS (well, somebody has to do it).
Here's the 32 gold beauties that everyone was panting about. Click <here> for a list of the winners.
A bird's eye view of the bourse floor. There were 55 dealer tables chock full of numismatic goodies. I don't know about everybody else, but I know I did my part in keeping financial incentives up for the dealers.
David and Nancee Nichols were present with the "Coins for Kids" table again this year. A hit just like last time, there were all kinds of activities for the youngsters.
And what would any coin show be without exhibits? From left: Don Foster, Pauline Pelletier and Terry Foster look over some of the many interesting and educational exhibits.
One of the exhibits was on the money of the island of Yap. Did you know that the NASC owns a Yap stone? Well we do, and here it is...
There were more exhibits including additional information on the island of Yap.
A table set up with flowers and memorials in remembrance of the late Virginia Hall and Murray Singer.
When Saturday evening came around the fosters went to work putting together all of the awards for the exhibitors. The presentation was made at our buffet party. Can you tell there was a luau theme?
More leis around the table. We filled up some eight tables with cheery faces like this. I think everyone had a good time...
...after looking at this picture I'm sure of it! Our entertainment (arranged by Banquet Chair Joyce Kuntz) came in the form of this Hawaiian dancer. And what a form! In this shot Kevin Akin (left) and Mike Stanley (right) do the chugga-chugga boom-boom. The dancer was able to get a dozen or so of us up and grinding for the hooting howls of the group. What a scream!
Here's all of the exhibit award winners:

Top from left: Phil Iversen, Tom Fitzgerald, and Jim Wells.

Seated from left: Roy Iwata, Kay Lenker, Virginia Bourke, and Stan Turrini.
