Numismatic Association of
Southern California
At our meeting on February 15, 2004, the Numismatic Association of Southern California planned a number of activities to commemorate its 50th anniversary. The NASC was founded in 1954 by a group of interested numismatists that met at the Hayward Hotel in Los Angeles. To commemorate this important anniversary, the Association is planning special programs, exhibits and commemoratives, etc., during the 2004 Golden State Coin Show and at the annual NASC awards banquet in 2005. In an effort to communicate these plans to all club members, the 50th Anniversary Committee will provide each NASC club an informational page every month. The Committee is asking every club representative to inform their members about these programs and it is hoped the club’s editor will include this information in their newsletter so that all members will know what is being planned. 50th Anniversary Design Competition We invite every member of an NASC club to submit a design to appear on a commemorative paperweight and the 50th anniversary medal. The creator of the winning design will receive recognition and a medal and paperweight bearing his or her design. Here are the rules:
The 50th Anniversary Committee invites all interested parties to offer any other ideas and suggestions to appropriately commemorate this anniversary. Please let us hear from you. The committee members are:
We've also put up on the site the book, Fifty Years of the NASC, written by Dr. Thomas F. Fitzgerald. Click <here> to read about and to download your copy.
